Abby Langner: WordCamp 2017 Speaker

Want to learn more about Gravity Forms? If so, this speaker definitely has a thing or two to teach you!

Introducing Abby Langner, a part-time freelance web developer and technical trainer. She specializes in custom front-end web development and one-on-one career training. She will be speaking over some of the basics of Gravity Forms and some more advanced features.

Time will also be spent going over a variety of forms (large business contact form, sweepstakes entry, multi-step, and more). These “cookbook” forms will be available as Gravity Form Export Files so you can modify and use them with ease.

Dave Navarro, Jr.: WordCamp 2017 Speaker

We have more talent lined up, coming in from Kansas. Introducing Dave Navarro, Jr., who will be giving a presentation on Facebook Live!

When Dave isn’t shooting footage for a TV commercial or a short-film, he will be working on his next WordPress plug-in. From working as programmer for Apple to being the Director of Digital Media for WIBW in Topeka, KS, Dave has cultivated a wealth of knowledge that he continues to grow and share. For the past 3 years he has specialized in custom filter and plug-in development for the WordPress platform.

Travis Pflanz: WordCamp 2017 Speaker

We are excited to continue the speaker announcements with a fellow WordCamp organizer from the KC area! Travis Pflanz will be giving a small business focused talk over blogging! Don’t miss out on this great presentation!

Organizer for WordCamp Kansas City since 2014 and co-organizer of WordPress KC – the Kansas City area WordPress enthusiasts Meetup group – Travis is well versed in WordPress development. He is not only a search engine optimization strategist for WebWorks of Kansas City, but he is also the owner. He specializes in SEO for small businesses that target local customers and clients. But when he isn’t busy building WordPress sites and creating SEO strategies, he volunteers for Wayside Waifs Humane Society, Spay and Neuter KC, and organizes the Kansas City Dog Club.

Josepha Haden: WordCamp 2017 Speaker

The schedule is really starting to shape up as we keep adding more great speakers! Our next announcement is Josepha Haden from Kansas City, MO.

Since college, Josepha has gathered together people with similar interests to learn more and create better communities. In 2008 that passion for connecting people spread to technology and she’s never looked back. With a training in music, and a background in data, she is a digital literacy advocate who talks about WordPress, the Open Source Software community, and non-traditional paths to STEM fields. Josepha works at Automattic as a community organizer for the WordPress open source project.

Andrew Tuzson: WordCamp 2017 Speaker

Our third speaker is Andrew Tuzon, the founder and CEO of Evol Empire Creative in Lincoln, NE.

Evol has experienced explosive growth since its launch in May of 2016. The company has grown its team to 24 and is known for its “culture of hustle”.

With experience growing companies, leading entrepreneurs, and expertise with the web, Andrew plans on discussing the culture of hustle and celebrating failure.

 

Rebecca Sharkey: WordCamp 2017 Speaker

For our second speaker announcement, we would like to introduce Rebecca Sharkey!

Rebecca is a do-it-all kind of gal when it comes to all things WordPress. From designing to developing, she touches on every aspect of a website. Rebecca currently works for a company called Three Pillars Media in Lincoln, where she currently does the majority of her work. When she isn’t designing or developing she will be reading to continue to fuel her imagination.

Tyler Goldberg: WordCamp 2017 Speaker


Our team is extremely excited to introduce Tyler Goldberg as our first speaker of 2017!

Tyler has been developing websites since 2005 has been featured on RealSimple magazine, Bob Vila’s blog, HomeAdvisor, and is currently a contributor to Flywheel. He has a fantastic range of experience with WordPress, ranging from basics of SEO to creating custom post types for non-developers. He is currently helping businesses find their home on the web with the company CYBERsprout.

If you’d like to propose multiple topics, please submit the form multiple times, once for each topic.

We’re looking for people who fit the following criteria:

A love of WordPress

It is a conference about WordPress, after all. While we are looking for a wide variety of topics, please make sure your submission is in some way relevant to WordPress.

A love of the community

WordCamps are all about giving back. Our speakers, organizers and volunteers are not compensated for their time or expenses, so it would be best if you want to give back!

A love of your topic

More than that, really… you need passion and experience to really get your point across. Regardless of why you love your chosen topic, we love that you love it!

A love of speaking

We don’t require previous speaking experience…. but you will be presenting to a large group of your peers, and will be recorded for WordPress TV.

A love of the GPL

If you distribute WordPress-derivative works, your users should enjoy the same freedoms that WordPress itself provides. In other words, your products should be 100% GPL or compatible.

Fill out the form below. Feel free to submit multiple topics (one form per topic, please). Most talk slots will be 45-50 minutes, which means that your talk should be 30-40 minutes with time for questions at the end.
